Summary


Mr. [Ronald Wilson Reagan]'s accomplishments were many. One of those was his ability to unite the nation after what many call the 'dismal years' of his predecessor, Jimmy Carter and making everyone proud to be an American. One of those accomplishments, the release of American hostages held by Iranian militants loyal to Ayatollah Khomeini for three years during the last years of the Carter administration. The release coming, as if scripted from a Hollywood movie, as Mr. Reagan took his oath of office in 1981.

His second term is what many say put Mr. Reagan at the forefront of American Presidents. In June of 1987, Mr. Reagan delivered a speech at the Brandenburg Gate in West Berlin, Germany. In that speech he challenged then-Russian General Secretary Mikhail Gorbachev.
