"I think the play was just to go flat and have a penetration pitch. I saw that Sherron [[Sherron Collins]] kind of fumbled the ball. I relocated behind him. I was able to get a good look at it," said [Mario Chalmers]. "I just know it was a big shot. Teammates had confidence in me. Coach Self had confidence in me. I mean, it was just a big shot for me. I wasn't surprised [that I was not fouled]. I thought they were going to keep us from shooting the three. I had an open look. I had a person in my face; it was just a lucky shot."

"I am a little overwhelmed right now. I am totally humbled to have an opportunity to coach where I do and to coach a group of men that I get to work with everyday," said fifth year Kansas head coach Bill Self. "I thought tonight, although we missed a couple of free throws and caught some break late that I know if I really deserve what happened to me tonight."

"Hats off to Kansas. I'm really disappointed. I'm proud of my guys. As a coach, when you are up five with whatever seconds left to go, you are supposed to win that game. So I take as much responsibility in this. You could say rebounding or free throws or whatever...you are supposed to win that game," lamented [John Calipari].
