Although the Texas Legislature only officially goes into Legislative Session for 140 days every 2 years, we are constantly busy throughout the year. In preparation for the upcoming Session and to ensure that we are armed with the most up to date information, members participate in committee hearings, task force meetings and ongoing research projects over the interim. After all, in each of the past three or four legislative sessions more than six thousand ideas or initiatives have been presented as "bills" for the House of Representatives to consider.
